What would you do with an extra 24 hours?

Today is February 29, a day that only occurs once every four years. It's an extra day. A full 24 hours.

As you go through your day today, look at each minute--each hour--as a gift. Will you use your extra day to take a chance? Make a difference? Create a memory? Change your life?

Time is something that seems to grow on trees when we're young. As we age, time becomes more precious. We complain that we don't have enough hours in the day; that time flies by too quickly.

Today, on this leap day, do something outstanding. Whether it's something personal or professional, don't let the this extra day slip away. Embrace it. Cherish it. Relish it. Rock it.

What will you do with your extra 24 hours?

  1. Probably the same thing I do all day long - write, blog, consults, Works With Friends. It's a vicious cycle but I love it. I could spend the extra time with social media but my waist line would really pay the price ;-)

  2. Perhaps a tweet, then jog, tweet, then jog combo might be what you're looking for, Donna!

  3. Very good thoughts.  Yes, being grateful is very important.  Without thanksgiving, we start to assume that it is all about us and we could not be more incorrect.  Only by making it about others and being thankful for our blessings do we really get what can be. ;D

  6. Hi Amber! I never really have thought much about "leap day" but your beautiful post has reminded me just how much we take time for granted and despite our complaints that we never seem to have enough time, we fritter it away frivolously. While reading your post, I suddenly realised how old I'll be on the next "leap day" and that was quite...um...depressing ;-) But...perhaps it wil help me to be more mindful of the gift of time that I have each and every moment. Happy Leap Day!

  7. What a beautiful comment, Claudia. Your observation of how old we'll be on the next leap day is so astute. I wish I had come to this realization many years ago and started a leap day tradition early on in my life. But, no time like the present, right?

  8. I'd never thought of the 29th in that way before & of course it is an extra day!  I always just think of those people born on the 29th & only getting to celebrate their 'real' birthday once every 4 years!  Unfortunately I've now missed the extra day as it's now the 2/3 but next time I'll view it in a totally different light :)

  9. Judy, we always seem to be battling the USA/Australia time difference and information getting to you a day late. D'oh!

Yes, put down something special for February 29, 2016!  Let us know how it goes, my friend!
